Problem justification. Analysis on the concept of Indebtness
dana
as derived from the word din to
prevent mankind from committing zina.
Introduction.
Din as translated into English, means
religion. Linguistically, since Arabic words could be translated in various
forms of words, din can be
semantically derived from the word dana means
indebtedness. Men is created by Allah s.w.t as khalifatullah serve as abd’
or slave. Therefore, men is indebted to his Creator and must live according
what his Master says. Muslim can only be living in the fullest Islamic ways if
the Muslim recognized there is only One Creator (Allah s.wt) and His Messenger
(Prophet Muhammad). With that significance Muslim will be able to live
according to Islamic way of life.
The problem with human being as
propagated by realism is not originated by original sin that is pessimistic
view on human being neither idealism believes mankind to be a moral capable
being and continuously to behave according to moral conduct. Human being is challenge by both the ability
to reason aql and desire hawa.
Therefore in Islam, the problem does not lies within the nature of human being,
but choices men would chosen. Al-Ghazali mentioned, men has two prominent soul
ie; Rational soul and Animal soul. Further he discussed and divided animal soul
into two, ie; Pig and Dog. Animal soul will constantly pacify men to behave
according to animal however with the given of rational soul, if use properly,
it will restraint mankind to behave in such manner. Having the ability of
reasoning will left dichotomy between right and wrong. Human being is full of
vices and flaws. Therefore, Islam comes to perfected human being, as
complementary for mankind to behave in the fullest virtues.
Committing zina is a out of morality, and adultery is among the biggest sin
mankind could ever committed. According to hudud
laws, adulterer must be lash 100 times. In addition to that the
consequences of fornication will only lead to stone to death. However,
intercourse can be legitimized through wed because through wed it will uphold
morality, as Allah s.w.t mentioned in Quran,
And they say, "Our Lord, let our spouses and children be a source of joy
for us, and keep us in the forefront of the righteous (25:74) Adultery is
driven by lust, as mentioned before Allah s.w.t bless his servant with two
soul. Animal soul will drives men to lust and rational soul will prevent man
for committing adultery, but rational soul alone will regressed mankind to
continuously committing Zina.
Islam is an identity carrying by Muslim in recognizing
Allah s.w.t as The Creator and everything
in the world is His Creation serve as slave or abd’. As recite in shahadah
I bear witness there is no God except than Allah s.w.t and Prophet Muhammad is
His Messenger. Repaying debt will not
serve as reminder but comes together as upholding morality. Allah s.w.t
mentioned Recite, [O Muhammad], what has
been revealed to you of the Book and establish prayer. Indeed, prayer prohibits
immorality and wrongdoing, and the remembrance of Allah is greater. And Allah
knows that which you do (29:45). Performing ibadah will ensure mankind to behave in manner as endorsed by Allah
s.w.t due to the fact, Ibadah is not
merely a term to pay debt and but a constant reminder for mankind to behave in
righteousness of Morality.
In short, Islam is system
whereby it gives mankind a set of permanent reality principle and identity.
With the given identity as indebtness towards the Creator, it helps mankind to
understand to live within the boundary of morality. Being an abd helps mankind to live in virtues and
prevent mankind to commit any forbidden action, neither thought nor spoken.
Thus, given Islam to mankind is a blessing from Allah s.w.t.
